JD arrived at Capstone Homes after honing his skills in the construction business for 25 years—working his way from the ground up. A Graduate of Florida State University, he is interested in construction on every level, from unique, off-the-grid projects to sleek, high-end high rises. At home, JD loves spending time with his family and being outside, hiking or exploring. As General Manager for Capstone Homes, one of the things he enjoys the most is getting to know each client and helping to transform their dream homes into a reality. His dynamic leadership in project development, construction, and management of custom homes helps propel Capstone Homes to even higher levels of excellence.

When it comes to experienced know-how, Mike Smith is at the head of the pack. As Operations Manager—with 40+ years of experience—Mike is adept at juggling multiple facets of Capstone’s day-to-day operations. At the top of his to-do list is coordinating and managing the company’s resources—meeting the many and varied timeline and budget expectations for Capstone’s clients. He has also built and developed thousands of homes, having owned and operated his own construction business for 17 years. A graduate of Brighton College in England, he’s won numerous awards from construction and industry peers and has served on various builder’s associations and commerce clubs. He’s also an international yachtsman, representing Great Britain and the United States all over the world.

Jeff has always been keenly interested in discovering how things are built and run. This passion has carried over to his job as Operations Manager for Capstone Care. He spent more than 20 years in the hospitality business in various management roles before coming onboard with Capstone. He also spent several years renovating and selling single-family homes. In his current position, Jeff helps clients operate within the framework of Capstone’s property management program. His team offers monthly inspections and property management based on whichever program the client selects. In his free time, Jeff loves to stay active with his family—fishing, hunting diving, and boating.

Capstone Homes’ President and Founder Robert Myers has been involved in the company since its inception in 2001. With an Associate’s of Science degree in Landscape Design, he started his career in landscape construction in 1982. In 1996, he became a member of the Bahamian Contractors Association—and served as chairman in 2004. He was also the chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employer Confederation and founded and chaired the Bahamas Landscape Association, Coalition for Responsible Taxation, and the Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG). Today, he remains the president of a number of construction and service-related Bahamian companies he either founded or co-founded, and is focused on the sustainable growth and development of those companies as well as new business opportunities.

Robert remains the driving force behind many of the company’s day-to-day interactions, having established the cost-plus construction methodology and many business processes the company still successfully utilizes today. He also continues to help shape the direction and growth of Capstone as he works with partners and senior management on an ongoing basis.

When he’s not working, Robert enjoys family time, kite-surfing, diving, and promoting responsible governance and vocational education.

As a Controller, Leah oversees a lot of Capstone’s day-to-day financial activities and works hard to help manage the company’s overall financial performance. With a Bachelor’s in Accounting from Louisiana State University and a Master’s in Finance from the University of Aberdeen, Leah has previously worked amongst the “Big Four”… the largest and most prestigious accounting firms in the world. Leah enjoys travel and art in her personal time.

Terah provides a vital line of communication between management and the employees of Capstone Homes. Her organization and attention to detail are essential for the successful, smooth, day-to-day operations of the company. Looking out for things in the office, Terah oversees the onboarding of all new employees, and helps ensure smooth communication for the Capstone team. With a background in the construction accounts department at an ultra-lux resort, Terah also has a Certification in Law for HR Practitioners from the University of the West Indies. When she’s at home, she enjoys learning about the culinary delights of other cultures with her family and playing with her German Shepherd.

As Project Manager, Bernaldo has mastered a myriad of responsibilities, which help ensure Capstone Homes’ projects continue running smoothly and efficiently. Creating monthly progress reports, cost projections and budget updates, Bernaldo also manages daily correspondence with subcontractors, architects and clients to make sure projects are streamlined and staying on schedule. He also manages contract documents, project schedules and procurement logs, as well as analyzing vendor proposals for each project.

With 14 years of experience in high-end residential and commercial construction and a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management form the University College Estate Management, Bernaldo’s skills are invaluable to Capstone Homes. He also has his Associate’s degree in engineering and an electrical Single-Phase Certification from the College of the Bahamas.

He enjoys woodworking and boxing in his free time.

Senior project manager Haydn Blyth is responsible for the overall management and direction of many of Capstone’s high-end construction projects. This includes the planning, budgeting, scheduling, and organization that goes into each of these jobs. Haydn maintains the lines of communication between each project and its owner. He also monitors the projects’ construction time, quality, and financial activities to ensure a successful finish.

Haydn has a plethora of experience, with 25 years of involvement in commercial, institutional, industrial, resort, and custom residential construction projects. He served for nine years as Senior Project Manager and Estimator in Australia, as well as nine years as Chief Quantity Surveyor in the Turks and Caicos Islands. He was also a Senior Project Manager for seven years in the Bahamas.

With a Building Technology diploma from TAFE (South Australian government), Haydn also holds Advance certificates in both construction supervision and estimation and contracts administration. This is just one of the many ways Haydn brings a wealth of expertise to Capstone Homes. He was also named Master Builder’s SA Custom Homes Contractor of the Year as well as the American Concrete Association’s International Contractor of the Year.

Among his many hobbies, Haydn enjoys Australian football and cricket, birdwatching, and squash—as well as West Indies and Australian exploration and history.

When it comes to dynamic project managers, Mona Lisa excels—using her expertise to plan and oversee Capstone’s building processes from conception to completion. Collaborating with architects and design engineers is just part of her job. She’s also busy juggling the various budgets and schedules for each of her projects, as well as meeting with homeowners to ensure Capstone Homes stays on target while fulfilling their client’s goals.

With an Associate’s of Arts in Architecture at the College of the Bahamas and a Bachelor’s in Building Construction at Auburn University—not to mention being named a LEED Green Associate—Mona Lisa has managed the construction of Luxury Homes in Albany, Old Fort, and Lyford Cay. Other projects include Baha Mar exterior buildings, the Princess Margaret Hospital Critical Block, the Atlantis Convention Centre, and the Grand Bahama Airport.

She also loves reading, traveling, and being a mom.

Sam came to Capstone Homes with 15 years of experience in the construction industry and a Bachelor’s in Construction and Engineering Management. He is also a Chartered Construction Manager.

As Project Manager with Capstone, Sam is responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of projects. Sam has been indispensable on countless projects leading project meetings and monthly progress reviews, producing monthly reports for clients, liaising with designers and stakeholders, and much more. He’s spent the last six years focusing on the super-prime residential sector in both the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. He also enjoys travel, scuba diving, rugby, and quality food and wine.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, Philip’s expert skills in budgeting, estimating, value engineering, and contract negotiations are just a few of the reasons why he is an invaluable part of the Capstone Homes team. A member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Philip received his Bachelor’s in Quantity Surveying and completed his post-graduate work in Arbitration. His experience covers a wide range—everything from hotels and estate residences, to condos, offices, and civil engineering projects. In his downtime, he enjoys food, travel, and fitness.

As Superintendent, George is busy with countless vital tasks at Capstone Homes—working on everything from reviewing construction documents for accuracy to managing subcontractors. If he’s not guiding the logistics of the crews at a construction site, you might find him working on site-safety issues, preparing work plans, or helping other teams with budget or field personnel needs. And that’s just scratching the surface … which is why he is such an integral member of the Capstone team.

George received his Associate’s in Art and Design-Architecture Technology from the College of the Bahamas. In the last 20 years, he’s racked up considerable accolades, including various certified testing programs, successful completion of the AutoCAD 2000 program at the Lignum Institute of Technology, and achieving the status of Certified International Project Manager, also with Lignum Technology.

George enjoys his downtime as well, and loves to follow business and financial news, as well as building/fixing computers and drawing or sketching. He also loves DIY projects and eating out, as well as reading, fishing, and traveling.

Short description of job/ responsibilities:
Assisting in company project start-up procedures. Assisting in quantity take-offs and pre-construction buyouts. Primarily responsible for overseeing and directing construction projects from its inception to completion.

Work experience/education in your field:
Ocean Cadillac – Miami, Krome Avenue Expansion – Miami, Bahamar, LJM Maritime Academy and Estimating for Preconstruction. An Associate of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from the University of The Bahamas, and a Bachelors of Science in Construction Management from Florida International University.

What are your interests/hobbies?
I enjoy snorkelling and participating in the Bahamas’ parade and cultural festival, Junkanoo.

Adrian came to Capstone Homes with 18 years of experience in the construction industry across the Caribbean islands. 

As Project Manager with Capstone, Adrian is responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of projects. Adrian has already been indispensable on critical project meetings and monthly progress reviews, producing monthly reports for clients, liaising with designers and stakeholders, and much more. Personally he also enjoys rugby, football, and cricket. 

Andrew is a Project Manager with a passion for a strong delivery of the highest quality to uphold the Capstone standard. Andrew has a Bachelor of Science degree and comes with 12 years of experience in construction management. Those years of experience are mainly in luxury and high end residential projects.Personally, Andrew previously played rugby semi-professionally in the UK and since moving to the Bahamas has started playing Padel Tennis and signed up for a half ironman in Miami.
